Five must have fitness apps in 2016


Hello everyone! This a bonus post in the health and fitness series. Now that we know the ten rules of achieving optimum fitness; all smart phone enthusiasts, this one’s for you! Gone are the days of wearable exercise gizmos, ask them to step aside as your pocket sized phones can do it all!
It can play multiple roles that of a great workout companion, an inspiring friend, a faithful assistant/manager and a dedicated trainer. So, make your workouts fun and super effective with the right selection of apps and self-discipline (read: non-negotiable) and achieve better results in your fitness goals this year.
So, whether you’re a novice or pro, who is looking to find the right motivation, starting to track your steps/day, make healthier eating choices, wish to sleep better, or simply trying to up the ante by doing something different and fun, there’s likely an app for everyone.
Without any delay, here are the five smart phone apps that are a must have for this year’s fitness goals. Best part is that all these are completely free! Some of these apps also offer premium versions but for starters their basic versions are good too! You could always purchase upgrades later, if you wish.
Here's the list of top five fitness apps -Android (one in each category).Sorry iPhone lovers, I am not sure whether all the apps mentioned below are available on iOS. But I'll keep on researching and updating the post for you people as well! :)
Workouts:
Sworkit - Workout Trainer-  offered by Nexercise Apps,Inc is more like your own personal trainer With lots of free workout options, this apps offers variety of different workouts like daily circuit training strength, cardio, yoga, Pilates, and stretching etc. You have to just set the time to create custom workouts. An app to suit your schedule.. as simple as that!
Running:
Google Fit -This famous app by Google is completely free and with a minimalistic UI, boasts of variety of features including tracking steps, distance, and pace with ease. It is able to quickly distinguish between activities viz. running, walking, and cycling. What’s more, you have the option to set recommended goals and sync the progress with an array of other fitness apps to display all your biometric data together in a single app.
Hydrating:
Water Drink Reminder - Offered By NorthPark.Android (Rated as Editor’s choice for 2015,syncs with Google Fit),
this app reminds you to drink water every day and tracks your water drinking habits. It suggests how much water your fit body need every day just by entering current weight; keeps logs and provides reminders for drinking throughout the day.
Food and Nutrition:
Calorie counter - My fitness pal - Offered by My fitness pal (syncs with Google Fit) is an interesting app for Nutrition. It has got an impressive array of features including a diary for food tracking with an extensive database, goal tracking, nutrition and macronutrient breakups, and integration with steps counter etc.
Tracking:
FitNotes - Gym Workout Log
It’s a minimalistic looking app with clean design; is totally ad-free and hosts a variety of features like Workout Log for tracking your progress, has an exercise database, includes various routines that too customizable with an option to export them to calendar and .CSV export later.
Bonus app:
Sleep as Android by Urbandroid Team (2 weeks free trial)
It includes Sleep cycle tracking with smart wake up, syncs and integrated with Google Fit, S Health. It provides info on sleep deficit, deep sleep and snoring statistics. It can even do sleep talk recording, snoring detection and anti-snoring.
